What is a TLD?
Domain names end with extensions called TLDs. TLDs are letters that appear after the last dot in a domain name. There are large number of TLDs available, and there are geographically defined TLDs that determine the location of a website.
What are parked domains?
These are websites that are not currently used by the site owner. These often contain advertisements related to the subject of the domain. There are two ways to park a domain name: by the domain owner through a domain name registrar or by default. When you buy a domain name for the first time, it is automatically parked by the domain name registrar.
What is a DNS?
The Domain Name System is the largest database in the world containing information on all existing websites. The Domain Name System is responsible for distributing domain names and directing traffic based on URLs in the address bar of a web browser. A DNS server is needed to translate the IP address of a website into a catchy phrase that is a domain name.
How do I register a domain name?

Why should I register a LK Domain name?
It is the Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) in Sri Lanka. LK domain names allow individuals and companies in Sri Lanka to represent their Sri Lankan identity on the Internet and also allow international companies to have their own identity in Sri Lanka. If the domain name is registered for an individual, the National Identification Card (NIC) and personal information (name, address, contact number, etc.) of that individual are required. If the domain name is registered for a business or organization, a business / organization registration number is required.
What are subdomains and how are they used?
Subdomains are website extensions which are mainly used to separate and categorize website content. The subdomain address appears in front of the main domain name. Adding a subdomain to your website does not cost money. By creating a subdomain, you are effectively creating a separate website within your site.

All devices connected to the Internet are automatically assigned an IP address. These are used to identify a website or computer uniquely. IP stands for Internet Protocol.
